About The Position

WCVB-TV is hiring for two off-camera Digital Content Producer positions to grow and diversify the station’s digital storytelling across web, app, YouTube, social, and streaming platforms, as well as within Chronicle and News broadcasts. One position is in the News department, focusing on fast-turn digital publishing, breaking news video, and enterprise or investigative reporting that extends NewsCenter 5’s original journalism. The other is in Chronicle, producing field-based, Chronicle-style long-form stories for digital-first release and broadcast use. The producer creates original video stories from pitch through final edit, usually working independently in the field. The role includes interviewing, gathering b-roll, shaping compelling narratives, and producing short- and long-form video for digital platforms. Producers must be able to travel throughout New England and occasionally beyond, and must attend in person. The role balances rapid publishing, including breaking news, with strong production quality. It also develops digital-first enterprise and long-form stories, identifies opportunities to extend reporting or archival footage, and may expand stories into series or plan them for future broadcast compilations. The producer tracks platform trends and audience behavior, tests formats and growth strategies, contributes to analytics-informed planning, and collaborates with digital, newsroom, and Chronicle teams to increase reach. Success includes increasing views, watch time, engagement, YouTube subscribers, and channel performance; consistently producing high-quality platform-optimized video; effectively repurposing newsroom and Chronicle material; and collaborating energetically across editorial, digital, and production teams. The estimated base salary range is $76,000–$90,000. Actual pay depends on factors including skills, work experience, business needs, market conditions, and work location.
