About The Position

Requirements

• Current on-board Title 5 or Title 32 employee of the 185th ARW.
• Military membership in a compatible Iowa Air National Guard assignment; military rank must be enlisted E-8 to E-9, and the selectee must wear the military uniform.
• Ability, through experience, education, or training, to reason in quantitative terms and communicate orally and in writing clearly and concisely, while understanding terminology and data related to repair operations and production processes.
• At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
• Experience, education, or training computing labor and material cost data, purchasing materials, or reviewing data concerning labor hours, machine time, and materials consumed.
• Experience using current automation support programs to input data, report equipment status, monitor job orders and work priorities, requisition repair parts, and track repair-part status.
• Must attain and maintain the security clearance required for the position; if not held at hire, must apply within 30 days of the start date.

Responsibilities

• Develop, interpret, and provide Wing guidance on maintenance policies, procedures, budgets, training criteria, and manpower and personnel matters.
• Interpret aircraft assignment configuration and reporting policies, inform Wing personnel of requirements, and follow up to ensure compliance.
• Create checklists, guides, and evaluation tools to assess maintenance personnel proficiency; develop, recommend, and review maintenance procedures and instructions.
• Manage the maintenance training program and implement policies to ensure personnel are trained for mission requirements.
• Evaluate maintenance organization structures, identify deficiencies and improvements, prepare and present manpower and readiness briefings, recommend responses to shortfalls, and review and coordinate personnel and position change requests.
• Direct Maintenance Group aircraft maintenance analysis; review analysis information and implement programs to support aircraft fleet health and readiness.
• Ensure aircraft status is reported according to technical guidance and oversee unit-level maintenance information systems used to document and track weapon-system maintenance.
• Compare maintenance analysis with National Guard and Major Command standards, identify trends affecting readiness, review daily aircraft statistics, and assist leaders with mission-readiness programs.
• Monitor mission changes that affect maintenance programs and processes.
• Represent the Maintenance Operations branch in discussions, meetings, panels, and committees concerning maintenance policies and procedures; build effective working relationships within and outside the Wing.
• Ensure engine health management duties and reporting are completed accurately and on time, and ensure Aircraft Structural Integrity Program data is collected and reported properly.
• Oversee fleet management to provide aircraft and systems availability for operational requirements; meet with representatives and coordinating officials to evaluate policies, explain procedures, and resolve issues.
• Participate in and initiate special projects and assignments; establish milestones and goals, research and evaluate reports, prepare detailed responses, recommend resolutions, and follow up on unresolved or questionable problems.
• Host Depot and Contract field teams, provide unit-specific maintenance and tool-control briefings, and coordinate and monitor aircraft status and repair progress.
• Coordinate with NGB functionals and other units to ensure maintenance assets are used effectively.
• Plan and schedule work to promote smooth workflow and even distribution; coordinate schedules with other managers and customers and adjust priorities as needed.
• Plan subordinate work, set short-term priorities and schedules, assign work according to priorities and employee capabilities, balance workloads, and provide advice, guidance, and direction on policy, investigative, inspection/exercise, strategic planning, and administrative matters.
• Structure assignments to create effective and economical positions and review the organization’s mission, functions, and staffing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
