The H51 Colorectal Surgery unit is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease Institute. Caregivers on this unit are dedicated to providing world-class care to patients experiencing Chron’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer and genetic bowel disease. This unit is one of a few in the world dedicated to the care of colorectal surgery patients, and caregivers receive invaluable experience with complicated medical histories, complex dressings, innovative surgical procedures, pain modalities and comprehensive nutritional support. Our experienced staff is excited to educate and mentor caregivers who begin their career on H51. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Nice To Haves

  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
