About The Position

The Greeter/Host is responsible for greeting and seating all guests, ensuring a quality dining experience from the moment they arrive until they depart. This role involves coordinating dining room activities, managing reservations, and acting as the first and last impression for guests. The Greeter/Host must maintain a clean and welcoming entrance, ensure menus are in excellent condition, and communicate effectively with servers, management, and the kitchen to ensure seamless service. They are also tasked with checking with guests upon departure to ensure a pleasant dining experience and promptly addressing any issues by involving a manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Three - Six months in a food/beverage services environment or establishment.
  • Must have vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer print outs, written instructions and to observe entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions.
  • Must have manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
  • Able to read, speak and understand English.
  • Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
  • Stand continuously for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests, escort them to their table, pull out chairs, and present menus.
  • Ensure entry doors are clean, free of debris, and inviting.
  • Make sure all menus are wiped down, free of spots or stains, and complete.
  • Inform servers of guest locations and assigned stations.
  • Plan the seating chart and organize reservations for the evening.
  • Check phone reservationists or answering machine messages for all reservations.
  • Check with the manager to ensure private parties are properly staffed and organized.
  • Check with the kitchen to verify menu items are readily available.
  • Maintain constant contact with servers, managers, and the kitchen to ensure timing and food preparation are synchronized with guest flow.
  • Greet guests leaving the restaurant to ensure they had a pleasant dining experience.
  • Check with every guest to notate any problems and quickly get a manager.
