About The Position

The Islands of Islamorada is seeking a bartender to join their team of experienced hospitality professionals. This role involves greeting guests, taking food and beverage orders, serving guests according to company standards, and adhering to all beverage pour and recipe standards. The bartender will communicate inventory needs, be knowledgeable of all food and beverage offerings, and make wine pairing suggestions. They will utilize suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth, communicate daily specials, and practice safe serving practices, including recognizing intoxication and refusing service when necessary. The position requires being perceptive, proactive, and engaging, anticipating guest needs and personalizing their experience. Responsibilities include pre-shift preparation like stocking garnishes and ice, creating syrups and infusions, completing side work and closing tasks such as cleaning and restocking, opening and closing beer taps, polishing glassware, removing trash, and restocking service stations. The role also involves making coffee, tea, and espressos, preparing and presenting bills, processing payments, and checking out with a manager. Maintaining cleanliness and safety in all areas, assisting team members, and complying with all company policies are also key aspects of the job.

Requirements

  • 1+ year professional bartending experience at a full service bar.
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong beverage knowledge with understanding of cocktail recipes and basic wine and beer familiarity.
  • Able to complete a satisfactory background check
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
  • Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for food and beverage
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, direct, seat, and take food and beverage orders.
  • Serve guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all beverage pour and recipe standards.
  • Communicate inventory needs to appropriate manager.
  • Be knowledgeable of all food, wine, beer, alcohol, and specialty cocktails offered.
  • Make wine pairing suggestions.
  • Use suggestive selling methods to drive revenue growth.
  • Understand and communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
  • Understand and practice safe serving practices as they relate to alcohol service.
  • Anticipate guest needs and personalize the guest experience.
  • Complete pre-shift preparation such as preparing and stocking garnishes, pre-mix, and ice.
  • Create syrups and in-house infusions.
  • Complete side work and closing tasks as required such as cleaning, sanitation of ice bins, and restocking for next shift.
  • Properly open and close beer taps.
  • Polish glassware, record any breakage.
  • Remove trash.
  • Restock service stations and service bar areas.
  • Make coffee, tea, and espressos.
  • Prepare and present final bill to guest for payment.
  • Obtain settlement and process using the POS system with adjusted tip if noted.
  • Check out with manager once shift is complete.
  • Practice cleanliness and safety in all dining areas, liquor and wine storage areas.
  • Assist team members as needed to promote a positive teamwork environment.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued.
