About The Position
Penske Media Corporation (PMC) is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join its Controllership team in West Los Angeles. The role supports the Finance and Accounting team in maintaining the books and records of PMC’s publication brands and reports to the Publication Controller. It involves account reconciliations, variance reporting, and responding to ad hoc requests from management. The position works onsite four days per week and remotely one day per week.
Requirements
- At least 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Fundamental knowledge of US GAAP.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adhere to and meet internal and external deadlines.
Nice To Haves
- Working toward a CPA and/or public accounting experience.
- Media or publication industry experience.
- Previous experience with NetSuite, Coupa, and Blackline.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations across financial statement areas, including revenue and expense recognition and intercompany allocations.
- Analyze monthly P&L variances and provide ongoing, meaningful reporting to management.
- Prepare audit documentation and key footnote disclosures as requested.
- Assist in administering financial close software tools, including NetSuite, Coupa, and Blackline.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, with a focus on optimizing the close process using generative AI tools.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements.
- Establish and document departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Perform special projects and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
