About The Position
Red Star Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Patient Care Assistant for its established, five-doctor veterinary practice. The role supports daily clinic operations by keeping the clinic clean, organized, and ready for patients and clients, and by helping ensure patient comfort. The clinic has a supportive, team-oriented culture and offers mentorship, hands-on training, and opportunities to take on new responsibilities as skills develop. The caseload includes multiple species, including equine patients. The position has a four-day workweek with rotating Saturday shifts. The clinic describes scheduling as predictable and offers flexibility when life happens. Compensation is based on experience and skill set. Previous veterinary experience is helpful but not required.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, well-run clinic.
- Willingness to tackle varied tasks, including cleaning kennels and horse stalls.
- Comfort assisting with animal handling and restraint, or willingness to learn.
- Clear, compassionate communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and adapt as priorities shift.
- Dependability and commitment to completing daily tasks.
- Positive attitude and team-first mindset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to an unspecified weight.
- Availability for rotating Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain kennels, runs, and patient areas to a high standard.
- Help maintain horse stalls and care areas for equine patients.
- Assist doctors and technicians with safe, gentle patient handling and restraint when needed.
- Keep the clinic organized and clean throughout the day.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and coworkers.
- Prioritize daily tasks and take initiative to complete work without waiting to be asked.
- Pitch in wherever needed as daily priorities change.
