About The Position

Northside Veterinary Clinic is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The position averages 35–40 hours per week and consists of four 10-hour shifts. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday from 8:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM. Salary is $24–$27 per hour, determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. Northside Veterinary Clinic is a full-service animal hospital in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, established in 1997. The clinic provides routine and emergency care as well as alternative therapies, including Chinese and Western herbal therapy, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, craniosacral therapy, and laser therapy. Requirements

At least 2 years of veterinary assistant experience.
Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Availability Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM–6:00 PM, and Saturdays, 8:45 AM–4:00 PM.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
