About The Position

PrimeCare Medical (PCM) is a privately owned, physician-founded, and nationally accredited correctional healthcare practice that has been in operation since 1986. PCM delivers comprehensive medical, mental health, and dental care services to over 80 county jails, prisons, and juvenile detention centers across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, New York, and New Hampshire. Correctional healthcare offers a unique, challenging, and rewarding opportunity for dental professionals to utilize their skills daily, providing care to an underserved, diverse, and appreciative patient population. This role is a perfect blend of outpatient and emergency dentistry. We are seeking a Part-Time Dentist to provide on-site dental care at the Cambria County Jail And Juvi Facility in Ebensburg, PA. The part-time schedule is up to 10-12 hours per week, worked Monday through Friday. A full-time option is also available, which includes travel time and a company fleet vehicle.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Dentistry.
  • Licensed to practice Dentistry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Maintain current DEA license.
  • Maintain active BLS (i.e. CPR) certification.
  • Maintain current Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and supervise dental care of inmates/patients.
  • Evaluate dental health programs and dental services.
  • Function as a consultant to facility physicians.
  • Monitor the need for dental supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in dental health planning.
  • Perform routine drilling, filling, and extraction of teeth in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Complete an initial dental screening on all new commitments within seven (7) days for prisons, fourteen (14) days for jails, and seven (7) days for juvenile centers.
  • Evaluate inmates/patients needing or applying for dental care not included under basic dental care services and make clinically appropriate recommendations.
  • Treat inmates/patients whose dental care is significantly affecting their nutritional status.
  • Take impressions for dental plates and complete required follow-up care.
  • Document completely all services rendered in the inmate/patient dental health record.
  • Instruct inmates/patients in dental hygiene techniques.
  • Provide in-service training for health staff in areas of dental hygiene, care, emergencies, techniques, and treatment.
  • Complete dental exams on inmates/patients at their anniversary date of incarceration (one (1) year for jails, thirty (30) days for prisons, and sixty (60) days for juvenile centers).
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
