About The Position

This position supports the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical and daily living needs of secondary students with disabilities in integrated, resource, self-contained, and community settings.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass District approved written and physical exams covering de-escalation and physical restraint training, on an annual basis.
  • Completion of required training within 75 days of initial hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain a Colorado driver’s license within the state’s required time frame for new residents and meet the District’s insurability requirements (if transporting students or using a personal/company vehicle for work duties).
  • Commitment to leading for racial and educational excellence and working to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in the community.
  • Belief in and support for all students to feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (with or without accommodations).
  • Willingness to undergo specialized training in invasive procedures, such as tube feeding and catheterization, as required by assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides services to one or more individual students as outlined in their Individual Education Plan (IEP), including supporting academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs.
  • Monitors classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and meeting learning goals.
  • Provides daily living procedures such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained.
  • Provides medically invasive (e.g., tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning) following universal precautions and as trained and directed.
  • Lifts and transports students using appropriate equipment and technique according to District training.
  • Supports implementation of students’ individual behavior intervention plans, crisis plans, and health care plans.
  • Implements student accommodations and modifications as outlined in their individual IEP in both academic and nonacademic settings throughout the school day.
  • Under the supervision of a special education teacher, collects data on students’ individual IEP goals.
  • Communicates and coordinates with students and parents about routine educational issues at the direction of the supervising special education teacher.

  • Competitive compensation: New hires will be set at $22.824 per hour. The salary range for internal candidates is $22.824 to $27.275 per hour.
