About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the applicable state.
• Ability to perform basic nursing skills for groups of patients and assume charge responsibility.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
• Ability to administer medication using the five rights.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to safely and effectively care for all patient populations presenting to the department.
• If an RN license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five or more years and the candidate has not held a license in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board-approved refresher course is required before reactivation or reinstatement. The candidate must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the course.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 100 pounds; Safe Handling Equipment must be used for weights over 35 pounds.
• Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills, attention to detail, and ability to write legibly.
• Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Four-year bachelor's degree preferred.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish personalized relationships with patients and their chosen support systems.
• Collaborate with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Provide and document patient care in accordance with current policies and procedures and under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager.
• Advocate for patients while implementing interdisciplinary plans of care.
• Educate patients and their support systems in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Analyze, modify, and implement strategies to progress patients through their plans of care.
• Ensure completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and related therapies.
• Prioritize duties according to patient needs and changing acuity levels.
• Build positive working relationships with team members and internal customers; mentor, precept, orient, and provide feedback to team members.
• Resolve conflicts independently when appropriate, accept responsibility for actions, and respond positively to feedback.
• Provide routine nursing care, including starting IVs and performing dressing changes, for multiple patients in a timely manner.
• Operate equipment including portable cardiac monitors and bedside commodes.
• Assist in critical situations, including administering CPR.
• Administer and evaluate medication therapies using the five rights.
• Perform patient transfers and transport patients by wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
