About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Safety, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Security Management, or Police Science.
• Ten years of security management experience required.
• IAHSS certification as either Supervisor or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) required within 12 months of hire.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card required.
• Valid California Driver's License and a good driving record required; out-of-state candidates must obtain a valid California driver's license within three months of hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to exercise sound reasoning and confidentiality while maintaining a tactful demeanor in dealings with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and staff required.
• Proven successful leadership experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Seven years of leadership experience.
• Experience with aggressive patients and application of least restrictive techniques, including de-escalation techniques.
• Four years of Emergency Preparedness or Disaster Planning experience.
• Business management experience.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care standards.
• Knowledge of lean management principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security, safety, and emergency management at SAMC and all off-site locations.
• Maintain safe and secure facilities and grounds through regular inspections and interior and exterior patrols.
• Respond to safety concerns and unusual events with trained employees.
• Develop and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory agency policies and procedures pertaining to safety and security, particularly during patient interactions.
• Represent the hospital to outside agencies in safety and security matters.
• Ensure campus security related to personal safety, fire, theft, vandalism, and disruptive behavior.
• Oversee daily operations of Security and Valet functions.
