About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Keyboard and data-entry experience.
• Ability to work flexibly based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, sometimes with minimal notice.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.

• Demonstrated customer focus, open and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients, adaptability to change, and knowledge of the business.

Nice To Haves

• Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Explain procedures to patients and perform venipuncture skillfully, safely, and accurately while fostering trust and confidence.
• Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing according to established practices and procedures.
• Verify patient demographic information and initials, obtain the patient’s signature after venipuncture, and confirm tubes are labeled in the patient’s presence with the correct name.
• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Travel to and cover multiple patient service center and in-office phlebotomy locations as needed.
