About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Palliative Care role at Texas Health Fort Worth involves providing direct patient care and assistance based on the established plan of care and patient/family preferences. This position is crucial in supporting the palliative care team by collecting and reporting patient data, assisting with admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely and accurately. The PCT collaborates with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs, maintains a clean and safe environment, and proactively meets patient and visitor needs. This role emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, effective communication across disciplines, participation in process improvement, adherence to safety goals, and patient advocacy.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B)
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
