Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Ortho Unit - PRN - Nights
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech provides basic patient care on a 32-bed orthopedic unit that also cares for medical/surgical and cardiac overflow patients. The unit is a center of excellence with certifications in hip replacement, knee replacement, and hip fractures. The role assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment; takes and records vital signs and relays them to the patient's nurse; provides general nursing care and routine treatments or procedures; facilitates patient processing; provides clerical receptionist and coordinating support; and performs additional duties related to department needs. This is a PRN night position with a 7 p.m.–7 a.m. schedule.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Certification as a nursing assistant or six months of recent experience as a nursing assistant.
- Six months of recent experience as a nursing assistant; current CNA certification, one clinical semester of nursing school, successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course, or six months of previous experience in a healthcare position may substitute for the experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation before providing patient care.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) through retraining for the duration of employment.
Nice To Haves
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
