About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under nursing supervision in the Emergency Room at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. The role is full-time on the evening shift. The PCT assists patients with activities of daily living, observes and reports patient progress, obtains and records vital signs, and collects specimens for laboratory testing.
Requirements
- Must have completed some high school education.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
- Completion of High School PCT competencies.
- Certification as a PCT (Certified Care Technician) or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care under nursing supervision.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Observe patients’ progress and prepare and disseminate reports to the nurse.
- Obtain and record patients’ vital signs.
- Collect specimens for laboratory tests.
