About The Position

Operates Folder/Gluer Machine to develop end-result printed packaging material in accordance with customer specifications. This role involves preparing the gluer by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high-quality product through precise control of feeding, take-over, and inverting of blanks, setting automatic loading, and maintaining constant blank heights. The operator must ensure steady and precise feeding at all speeds, making adjustments as needed to exceed customer expectations. Responsibilities include resolving defects and making adjustments for high-quality product, overseeing general technicians working on equipment, making adjustments, clearing jams, and maintaining speed and quality during processing. The role also emphasizes quality assurance by reviewing jobs for accuracy and completeness, ensuring finished products exceed customer expectations, completing all checklists, and supporting and communicating ISO standards and quality objectives. Adherence to OHSE and Clean policies is critical, including maintaining a safe environment, following company policies for safety, PPE, and hazardous materials/waste handling, wearing proper uniforms, using safety lifting equipment, and properly storing and arranging the work area. Communication and leadership are also key, requiring interaction that promotes respect and cooperation, clear communication of accurate information, acceptance of feedback, motivation of the crew, providing training, conducting team meetings, and performing additional tasks as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED).
  • Minimum of 3 years of Folder/Gluer equipment operation within the food packaging industry.
  • Must have interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bobst Alpina, Expertfold and or Heidelburg gluer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust gluer machine, troubleshoot and monitor operation.
  • Prepare gluer by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by precise control of feeding, take over and inverting of batches of blanks, setting automatic loading and constant blank heights maintaining steady and precise feeding at all speeds making adjustments as needed to exceed customer expectation.
  • Resolve any defects and adjustments to produce high quality product by performing a variety of make ready tasks utilizing quick and easy settings for high productivity and precision operations.
  • Oversee General technicians working on equipment.
  • Make adjustments, clear jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality.
  • Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy. Make sure jobs are complete and error free.
  • Ensure finished product exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensure all checklists are completed.
  • Support and communicate all ISO standards and quality objectives to the Team.
  • Ensure complete adherence and compliance to the OHSE and Clean policies.
  • Assist team members in maintaining clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for safety, PPE and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
  • Follow all PPE procedures at all times.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.
  • Maintain and wear proper uniform according to company policy.
  • Use Company provided safety lifting equipment.
  • Properly store and arrange work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.
  • Interact with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.
  • Communicate accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner that conveys a willingness to assist.
  • Accept direction and feedback from leadership and follow through appropriately.
  • Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
  • Communicate regularly with team toward goals and required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when goals or results are not met.
  • Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required.
  • Consistently use appropriate established channels of communication.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
