Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience as a volunteer or volunteer coordinator within an organization required.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or English preferred.
  • Work or volunteer experience with a non-profit with emphasis on volunteer management preferred.
  • Experience writing recruitment plans, federal grants, or handling funds preferred.
  • Experience in the areas fundraising, corporate development, special events planning or public information

Responsibilities

  • Performs journey-level volunteer services work under the general supervision of the Director of Community Relations with moderate latitude for the utilization of imitative and independent judgement.
  • Work includes recruiting, training, and managing new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, processing and tracking donations to the Volunteer Services Council, creating monthly and annual volunteer activity reports, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization's purpose to the public.
  • Manages volunteer recruitment; recruits volunteers in accordance with the recruitment plan; fully screens and processes volunteer applicants; interviews, selects, and manages the day-to-day work of volunteers.
  • Creates and provides educational and training materials and programs that establish the proper policies and procedures for volunteers and individuals.
  • Identifying, assessing, and complementing individuals’ needs with volunteers’ skillsets.
  • Oversees required records, files, and the program database regarding volunteer schedules, and evaluates volunteers’ performance and effectiveness.
  • Evaluates and executes requests for any donated items, funds, and/or services that may meet patients' needs.
  • Compiles and produces an annual Volunteer Services Report.
  • Leads fundraising campaigns throughout the year to increase available funds for Volunteer Services Counsel's activities and supplies.
  • Managing and maintaining monetary and in-kind donation tracking database.
  • Actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
