About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or current radiology student.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of full body motion, patient handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and extended standing and walking.
• Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms before procedures, clean rooms promptly afterward, and change laundry.
• Support patient modesty and comfort, assist patients with changing, respond to call lights as appropriate, and report changes in patient condition or behavior.
• Ensure patients are discharged to the appropriate destination.
• Verify patient identification according to policy and create patient identification bands.
• Schedule scans, monitor the queue, answer calls from units, and provide updates on scheduling forms.
• Verify physician exam orders, consider patient needs, and initiate communication and inpatient flow.
• Document patient history, conditions, and other pertinent information on requisition/history sheets, and enter exam-day data into the computer, including nonprocedural changes, additional exams, and order revisions.
• Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via PACS when applicable; understand after-hours image transmission and associated paperwork; and promptly report malfunctions to the Help Desk and PACS Administrator.
• Follow Radiation/MRI safety guidelines and operate equipment properly and carefully.
• Maintain ethical and professional relationships with customers, cooperate with coworkers, and accept constructive criticism.
• Assess patients' readiness and learning needs while considering diversity and inclusion.
• Select appropriate methods for patient education and validate learning through verbal feedback or return demonstration.
• Provide verbal and/or written instructions for tests, procedures, diagnoses, and discharge when appropriate.
• Dispense department stock, stock rooms daily, and prepare oral contrast.
