About The Position

The MRI Assistant is responsible for optimizing the flow of MRI examinations, including clarifying and documenting patient screening and safety procedures. The role provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, with an emphasis on quality service and patient care. The employee must be self-motivated and able to work as part of a team. Other duties may be performed as trained and assigned when needed. The position is onsite at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York. Coverage may also be required at East Campus MRI and/or Cortland MRI, according to department and patient needs. The role is full-time, with flexible day and evening shifts scheduled within department operating hours of 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Local travel of 0%–10% may be expected.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to push, pull, bend, safely transfer patients, and ambulate without assistance.
Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volume.
Ability to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Problem-solving ability and attention to detail are preferred.
Good written and oral communication skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

Observe all safety and warning signs and demonstrate understanding of emergency stops and patient extraction from the bore and magnet room.
Use proper phone etiquette and follow the patient identification policy.
Participate in staff meetings and read emails for updates.
Complete documentation of patient history, technologist information, the Universal Time Out, exams, and scanned paperwork in PACS.
Assess stock levels and enter stock and pantry orders in the computer system.
Perform other duties as trained and assigned when needed.
