Engineering Buyer and Material Handler

About The Position
CACI is seeking a full-time Engineering Buyer and Material Handler to support its Engineering team in Rochester, NY. The role directly supports the R&D engineering team and is responsible for purchasing electronics, electrical components, assemblies, and electronic and mechanical contract-manufacturing commodities from industry partners and certified sources worldwide. The position reports to senior leadership and works with functions across the Rochester division, primarily Engineering. The role supports R&D material management, including purchasing, receiving, kitting, and delivery. It also involves managing Engineering material locations, coordinating purchases with design leads and contract manufacturers, maintaining vendor relationships, and providing material status updates to Engineering R&D leads.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with teams across the organization.
- Experience with Purchase Order processing, Inventory Management, and Sales Order Processing.
- Ability to process multi-level bills of materials.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask systematically and manage large volumes of data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- U.S. citizenship is required to be eligible for security clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to work independently or with other departments to support stakeholders.
- Experience with configuration management principles and PLM systems.
- Experience or familiarity with on-site custom manufacturing and off-site contract manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Support material management processes for the site Engineering R&D team, including purchasing, receiving, kitting, and delivery.
- Purchase Engineering custom prototype designs in coordination with design leads and contract manufacturers.
- Purchase Printed Circuit Board (PCB) components, including active and passive components, transistors, transformers, connectors, and Integrated Circuits (ICs).
- Purchase Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts, cabling, and accessories.
- Receive and maintain organized Engineering material locations and deliver materials to design leads as required.
- Work with Engineering design leads to create and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Provide material status updates to Engineering R&D leads.
