About The Position

The Material Handler 1 sorts and stages glass for production on first shift. The position supports production by moving materials and mobile carts between locations, assembling products, participating in cross-training, and performing some machine operation. The handler understands production schedules and inventory requirements, performs preventative equipment maintenance such as cleaning and inspection, and applies inspection procedures and tolerances to pass or reject materials and products.

Requirements

• Prior manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write, perform basic math, and read a tape measure.
• Punctuality and excellent attendance.
• Availability for overtime and emergency work.

Responsibilities

• Sort and stage glass for production.
• Move materials, manually lift items, and move mobile carts between positions or locations to facilitate production.
• Perform assembly, participate in cross-training, and perform some machine operation.
• Understand production schedules and inventory requirements to keep production on schedule.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities on equipment, including cleaning and inspecting.
• Apply inspection procedures and tolerances to pass or reject materials and products.
