About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading material for inbound and outbound trucks; moving, logging, organizing, and cataloguing material; and picking material for production jobs. The position is based in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and is with voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak, a designer and manufacturer of special trackwork and rail solutions.

Requirements

• Ability to read work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents.
• Ability to use a tape measure to at least 1/16 inch.
• Basic mathematical calculation skills, including adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Forklift and crane certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents.
• Calculate the weight of parts and shipments.
• Read and follow the production schedule.
• Safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
• Safely operate powered industrial trucks.
• Work with little supervision.
• Adhere to Nortrak’s safety, quality, and environmental procedures, practices, and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Load and unload material for inbound and outbound trucks; move, log, organize, and catalogue material; and pick material for production jobs.
