Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program appropriate to the position.
• Current, active Iowa RN or LPN license, depending on the position.
• Current CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification as required by facility policy.
• Compassionate, resident-centered approach to care.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Dependability and ability to prioritize resident needs.
• Willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and develop clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric care is preferred but not required.
• Experience is not required for new graduates or nurses transitioning into long-term care; on-the-job training and guidance are provided.

Responsibilities

• Monitor residents’ health, assess changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare professional.
• Provide nursing care and implement resident care plans in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable regulations.
• Administer medications and treatments appropriate to the nurse’s license, scope of practice, and assigned responsibilities.
• Monitor residents’ responses to care and report significant findings to the appropriate provider or clinical leader.
• Promote residents’ dignity, comfort, safety, independence, and overall well-being.
• Respond promptly to resident needs and emergencies and follow established procedures.
• Work collaboratively with nursing assistants and other team members to ensure timely, compassionate care.
• Communicate resident updates, care needs, and changes in condition to appropriate team members.
• Provide guidance and direction to nursing assistants as appropriate to the nurse’s role and scope of practice.
• Help maintain a respectful, supportive environment for residents, families, and coworkers.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, medications, treatments, and resident care.
• Follow infection prevention practices, medication safety procedures, facility policies, and applicable regulations.
• Protect resident privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
• Recognize and promptly report incidents, medication errors, suspected abuse, neglect, or other safety concerns.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts and ongoing training as appropriate.
