About The Position

PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Pasco High School. This is a 1.0 FTE position responsible for self-contained (CCP) and resource room duties. The role involves designing and implementing IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans, participating in functional behavioral assessments, and developing transition and High School and Beyond plans. The ideal candidate will have experience with co-teaching models or a commitment to training, and demonstrated knowledge of multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills. Collaboration with grade-level partners and participation in professional learning communities are essential. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to student success, align with state requirements and school principles, and possess passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. Willingness to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices, and collaborate with staff to enhance student outcomes is expected.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Successful experience with a co-teaching model or commitment to participate in training.
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission.
  • The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students.
  • The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous successful classroom teaching experience
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish
  • Previous experience working with students with a variety of disabilities
  • Training and/or experience in Guided Language Acquisition Design or attend GLAD training

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement standards-based IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Participate in functional behavioral assessments.
  • Develop IEP transition plans, and High School and Beyond plans.
  • Design specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access general education curriculum.
  • Participate in professional learning communities as determined by the building.
  • Share and collaborate with grade level partners to meet district and/or school improvement plan(s).
  • Assist in supervision and instruction for para-educators or willingness to learn.
