Applied Materials is seeking a Hardware (HW) Qualification and Development Support Team (DST) Engineer IV to support research and development, module integration, calibration, qualification, tool builds, and production documentation. The role requires specialized expertise in at least two R&D disciplines: optics, electronics, motion, or SEM. The engineer works independently on complex technical problems and may lead functional teams or projects. This position is based in Santa Clara, California, with travel required 10% of the time and relocation eligibility offered. The engineer supports R&D module owners with on-tool and off-tool module integration, calibration, and qualification; qualifies module performance against specifications; and supports R&D development activities. The role leads qualification of complex non-system components, performs risk assessments, defines and executes qualification plans and calibration procedures, and uses manufacturing execution system platforms to monitor lot holds, review step histories, and extract operational data for yield analysis and process troubleshooting. The engineer serves as a tool owner and expert in tool builds and complex integration, defines and qualifies full build books and full subsystem ATP tests, and provides advanced debugging and third-level escalation for modules within their area of expertise. The role drives cross-functional alignment among stakeholders across multiple organizations to coordinate priorities and schedules, execute R&D activities, and report results.
