Principal Hardware Engineer

Marvell Technology•Santa Clara, CA
•$150,680 - $225,700

About The Position

Marvell’s Hardware Engineering group designs high-volume production boards and systems for infrastructure semiconductor solutions used in AI data centers, network security, and high-speed connectivity. The Principal Hardware Engineer leads board design from concept through production for custom ASIC solutions built on 3nm technology and high-speed SerDes for large-scale data center applications. The role works across hardware, software, silicon, firmware, system, board development, design verification testing (DVT), and signal integrity (SI) teams, as well as with customers and JDM partners, to deliver reliable, high-performance products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 10–15 years of related professional experience; alternatively, a master’s degree and/or Ph.D. in those fields with 5–10 years of experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing high-speed digital circuitry on complex, high-density printed circuit board assemblies, including Ethernet controllers, microcontrollers, and processors.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with ODMs.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing high-density boards with fine-pitch components and microvias.
  • Expertise in high-speed designs and interfaces such as DDR4/5, PCIe Gen5+, 100G Ethernet, QSPI, and USB, using medium- to high-end CPUs.
  • Good knowledge of power supply designs and hands-on measurement experience.
  • Good debugging skills and experience using lab equipment.
  • Expertise in design for optimum signal and power integrity.
  • Customer-facing experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of mechanical components and their use in board design.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Allegro schematic and layout tools.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with ownership of team and project outcomes.
  • Grounded, detail-oriented approach and ability to support ideas with facts.
