Hardware Design Engineer II

RTX•Marlborough, MA
•$68,900 - $131,100•Onsite

About The Position

REPA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to apply academic and professional experience in digital and analog hardware and subsystem design to the development and production of Raytheon Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter subsystems. The Hardware Design Engineer II uses working knowledge of Circuit Card Assemblies and analytical skills to design and develop products for signal processing, command, and control applications. The role includes designing mixed-signal hardware for new and existing products. The engineer collaborates with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical engineers on design trades and requirements flow-down; performs electrical analysis; develops test plans; and delivers hardware that meets program requirements. The role also provides technical support during transition to production and for ongoing production activities. Opportunities may include managing small projects or processes. The position is a first-shift, 100% onsite role based in Tewksbury or Marlborough, Massachusetts, with anticipated travel between Massachusetts sites and occasional travel to supplier, integration, or customer sites.

Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • At least 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Combined experience in two or more of the following: digital design from requirements development through build and test; RF/analog design from requirements development through build and test; production testing and circuit troubleshooting.
  • Experience with design simulation tools such as HyperLynx or LTSpice and analytical tools such as Matlab.
  • Experience with design development tools such as Mentor Graphics' Xpedition schematic capture and layout.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interfacing with and testing digital-to-analog converters (D/A) and analog-to-digital converters (A/D).
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as JESD204B, DDR3 or DDR4 memory, SERDES, 10G+ Ethernet, or Fiber Channel.
  • Experience with FPGA hardware inference designs, including SERDES and LVDS chip-to-chip or board-to-board.
  • Experience allocating and flowing down requirements from system to component level.
  • Experience with cost estimating, budget management, and schedule management.
  • Laboratory experience testing and verifying digital and mixed-signal circuits and systems using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, phase noise analyzers (PNA), and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
  • Active or existing Secret U.S. security clearance.
  • Team leadership skills, including cost and schedule management, plus proposal writing and presentation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform circuit and subsystem architecture, design, modeling, simulation, and verification.
  • Integrate and test hardware at the component, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), and subsystem levels.
  • Support transition to production and provide technical support to manufacturing and test engineers.
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical engineers on design trades and requirements flow-down.
  • Perform electrical analysis, develop test plans, and deliver hardware meeting program requirements.
  • Occasionally travel to supplier, integration, and customer sites; travel between multiple Massachusetts sites is anticipated.
  • Potentially manage small projects or processes within the area of responsibility.
