About The Position

Nokia is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to contribute to the development of hardware test boards and platforms for highly integrated System-on-Chip optical engines used in telecom, data center, and networking applications. The role involves characterizing and testing very high-speed electro-optical devices in a dynamic R&D and manufacturing environment. The engineer will design and develop test boards and platforms, conduct laboratory testing and characterization, and contribute to optical-engine design and development. The position also calls for a willingness to learn and expand existing skills.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with 3 years of related experience.
  • PCB design skills, including schematic capture and PCB layout of densely routed boards.
  • Low-frequency analog design, simulation, and debugging experience, including bias and control-loop circuitry.
  • Experience building and debugging complicated test systems.
  • Ability to independently interface with vendors and other third parties.
  • Firmware development skills for microcontrollers, including hardware bring-up and debugging.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or 5 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with some or all of the following: PSU design, high-layer-count stack-ups, HDI, or fine-pitch fanout.
  • Laboratory experience working with optical components and instruments, using software to automate measurements and analyze data.
  • Theoretical understanding of coherent optical communication systems or prior experience with optical modules.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware test boards for characterizing and testing high-speed electro-optical devices.
  • Develop test platforms for R&D and manufacturing purposes.
  • Conduct laboratory testing and characterization of electro-optical devices.
  • Contribute to the design and development of System-on-Chip optical engines for telecom, data center, and networking applications.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and expand existing skill sets.
