About The Position

Teradyne’s Integrated Systems Test (IST) Hardware Engineering team is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to develop electronic hardware for storage and system-level test products. The engineer owns complex board-level designs from requirements and initial concept through schematic development, PCB implementation, prototype bring-up, verification, and release. The role applies expertise across digital, analog, mixed-signal, embedded, high-speed interface, and power designs, working collaboratively across engineering disciplines throughout the product-development lifecycle. The position also supports product introduction, manufacturing, and sustaining activities and provides technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Typically 5+ years of hands-on electronic hardware development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex board-level designs from requirements through schematic development, PCB implementation, prototype bring-up, verification, and release.
  • Broad knowledge of digital, analog, mixed-signal, embedded, high-speed interface, and board-level power design.
  • Strong understanding of multilayer PCB design, controlled impedance, differential signaling, grounding, manufacturability, and testability.
  • Strong laboratory bring-up, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated technical ownership, sound engineering judgment, and ability to independently solve complex hardware problems.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to others and develop broader technical leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Translate product and system requirements into hardware architectures and detailed circuit designs.
  • Develop digital, analog, mixed-signal, and board-level power circuitry and select appropriate components.
  • Create and review schematics and supporting design documentation.
  • Design embedded systems incorporating processors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, memory, and peripheral devices.
  • Design with high-speed interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR, and similar technologies.
  • Implement interfaces including I²C, SPI, UART, GPIO, and JTAG.
  • Design DC/DC conversion, regulation, sequencing, monitoring, protection, and power distribution.
  • Define component placement, PCB stackups, routing constraints, controlled impedance, differential-pair requirements, grounding, and return paths.
  • Participate in schematic and PCB design reviews.
  • Develop and execute hardware bring-up, characterization, verification, and integration plans.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory debug and root-cause analysis of complex board- and system-level issues.
  • Independently drive assigned designs and technical issues to resolution.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines throughout the product-development lifecycle.
  • Support product introduction, manufacturing, and sustaining activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.
