About The Position

The CT State Community College SNAP E&T Program was established in response to Public Act 08-161 which enables cities and towns to participate in SNAP E&T, a federally funded program for food stamp recipients looking for regular employment or an increase in wages through short-term vocational training. The mission of SNAP E&T is to maximize the financial resources available for providing a wide range of employment and training (E&T) activities that reduce poverty or the risk of poverty to individuals and families living in the Hartford County area and to leverage existing financial resources through this 50-100% cost reimbursement program. The SNAP E&T Coordinator is a grant funded position. The coordinator functions as the grant administrator for the CT State Asnuntuck Campus SNAP E&T and is the primary liaison between the campus and its community partners. The Coordinator will support all recruitment, retention and certificate completion activities of SNAP participants and billing responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with one (1) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

  • Experience in mentoring or advising students
  • Case management
  • Experience in training and/or outreach activities
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Proof of eligibility to work under the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA)
  • Successful completion of a background check, including granting permission to contact current and previous employers for verification, reference checks, criminal history, and, when applicable, credit or driving history checks
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States
