About The Position
The Financial Analyst provides professional-level financial analysis for the institution, completing analyses and developing financial forecasts to help maximize institutional assets. In this role, the employee is responsible for day-to-day financial administration of a busy research center, including developing and tracking invoices, monitoring automatic clinical-trial payments, managing internal invoicing operations and center budgets, monitoring clinical-trial salary distributions, and preparing recurring reports for Center Directors. The role also analyzes and prepares financial documents and cost studies; examines historical and projected financial data for senior management; assists with annual financial statements submitted to UT System; compares actual and budgeted expenditures and revenues; analyzes investment performance; and prepares financial activity reports and long-term financing plans. Additional duties include assisting with approvals for Physical Plant funded spending and coordinating payments related to building construction and renovations. Employees must permanently reside and work in Texas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Three years of related experience in a financial or accounting area.
- Must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
- Must meet the security-sensitive position requirements described in the posting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and track invoices to ensure timely payment.
- Work with the research team to monitor and track automatic payments for clinical trials.
- Prepare and manage internal invoicing operations.
- Oversee center budgets and monitor salary distribution for clinical trials.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Center Directors at scheduled meetings.
- Analyze and prepare financial documents and specialized cost studies.
- Examine historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with information for financial decisions.
- Assist in preparing and submitting annual financial statements to UT System.
- Prepare specialized cost studies of institutional operational units.
- Complete financial statements comparing actual and budgeted expenditures and revenues.
- Calculate and analyze investment performance.
- Prepare reports summarizing financial activity.
- Prepare long-term financing plans and reports for senior management.
- Assist in obtaining approvals for spending Physical Plant funded monies.
- Assist in coordinating payments to parties involved in construction of new buildings and renovations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
