The Great Falls Pre-Release Center is a non-profit Community Corrections worksite with three minimum-security residential counseling campuses. It houses adult male and female felon offenders in a structured transition program for re-entry into the community, and also operates a Jail Alternative program and a Community Service program. The Education Coordinator is responsible for developing and administering ongoing educational and vocational skill-building programs for residents, focusing on identifying appropriate programs based on group goals, development levels, needs, capacities, and interests. The role involves helping residents develop attitudes and social skills for improved interpersonal relations and community responsibility, assisting them in achieving educational goals like HiSET completion, and introducing them to community resources. Working with the Treatment Coordinator, the Education Coordinator has autonomy to develop courses of study and training materials for rehabilitation and tutors residents in basic academic subjects. The Transition Center is a structured pre-release program for adult male and female offenders within 24 months of parole eligibility or one year of discharge. It helps residents re-integrate into the community by teaching life skills, establishing employment/training, budgeting, savings, housing, and participating in counseling. The Center has a five-phase program with graduated levels of responsibility, where residents assume their own case goals. The facility has undergone several expansions since its opening in 1984, including adding a women's program in 1996, to increase capacity and programming flexibility.
