Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • 3+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services (remediation, emergency response, etc.) (required)
  • OR In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services (remediation, emergency response, etc.) (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Technical field degree (chemistry, engineering, environmental science) (preferred)
  • CHMM certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Preparing necessary equipment, labor, regulatory and technical aspects of projects, and managing projects from start to finish.
  • Determining project length and cost, and visiting customer sites as needed to ensure safety and satisfaction.
  • Supporting other project managers and more junior colleagues.
  • Prioritizing health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices.
  • Assessing project needs in terms of equipment and labor to determine project length and costs; maintaining responsibility for adherence to timeframes and budget.
  • Managing and conducting environmental assessments, investigations, and remediation activities for environmental remediation projects.
  • Completing projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
  • Assessing new projects, including technically complex ones, and developing written proposals and associated cost assessments.
  • Establishing the price for the work needed.
  • Developing project objectives through proposal preparation and planning, coordinating with leadership on activities like decontamination of equipment, spill remediation, tank cleaning, water blasting, and demolition.
  • Determining project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel, and reviewing contractor bids for waste disposal or destruction options.
  • Planning for project initiation by scheduling resources, submitting required paperwork, negotiating with regulatory agency personnel, and preparing written plans and compliance documents.
  • Completing site visits during projects to monitor progress and update clients.
  • Recognizing and negotiating changes in the original project plan and adjusting costs accordingly.
  • Maintaining favorable and productive client relationships throughout projects.
  • Managing Emergency Response projects, operations, activities, and personnel in the field.
  • Supervising Emergency Response crews.
  • Supervising personnel involved in field operations, planning work for safety, and instructing on proper methods and procedures.
  • Providing field service technical support to all field service locations and staff.
  • Participating in hiring, performance evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary process decisions.
  • Completing monthly billing approval and various administrative tasks.
  • Leading on all credit and collection items or issues related to the role’s projects.
  • Maintaining the ability to travel to customer sites and work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Maintaining the ability to be on-call.
  • Performing field activities such as sample collecting if necessary.
  • Taking on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
