About The Position

Requirements

• Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide is required; must be listed on the relevant Virginia and/or West Virginia registry based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
• American Heart Association-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Provider (HCP) is required. New hires must have the appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
• Must understand basic principles of human growth and development.
• Must be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, which may vary based on the age of the patient served.
• Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
• If employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas, must obtain the Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine personal care duties for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Maintain a safe environment and report any problems.
• Support the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center.
• Once experienced, may act as a preceptor during the orientation of new CNAs.
