About The Position

Questrade Financial Group (QFG) is seeking a Senior Advisor, AI Engineering Frameworks & Tooling. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role focused on transforming how various departments within the company operate using AI. The goal is to build AI frameworks, tooling, and repeatable processes that fundamentally change workflows in areas such as Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Settlements, and Operations. The role involves embedding within these departments to understand their work, designing AI-powered solutions, building the initial versions, and enabling departments to own and evolve them. This includes creating automated contract review systems, continuous audit frameworks, AI-assisted reconciliation processes, and tools to automate accounting verification steps. Additionally, the role involves building AI frameworks and developer tooling to accelerate software delivery, designing AI-native development environments, and acting as an evangelist to drive adoption through demonstrated results. Continuous research into emerging AI capabilities and bridging business and technology domains are key aspects of this position. The role also emphasizes championing continuous delivery for AI tooling and mentoring teams to grow AI literacy across the organization.

Requirements

  • Deep hands-on experience building AI-assisted workflows, preferably for non-technical teams.
  • Strong software engineering foundation: ability to design APIs, write OpenAPI specs, build Docker environments, script CI/CD pipelines, and operate in complex distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and internalize business domains quickly.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, AI agent orchestration, and/or MCP (Model Context Protocol) server design.
  • Comfortable operating across the full stack: infrastructure (Docker, GCP/Azure), backend (C#, Python, Node), API design (OpenAPI, AsyncAPI), and developer experience tooling.
  • Self-directed and constantly reinventing.
  • Degree, diploma, or equivalent directly related work experience.
  • Startup or scale-up experience, comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and building from scratch.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services experience.
  • Contributions to open-source AI tooling or developer experience projects.
  • Experience building AI frameworks that span non-technical departments (Legal, Compliance, Operations).
  • AI Tooling: Claude Code, MCP servers, custom slash commands/skills, prompt pipelines, Gemini, ChatGPT, GLM, Qwen, LangGraph, etc.
  • Runtime: REST APIs (C# microservices), SPAs (Angular), OpenAPI/AsyncAPI specifications
  • Data: Google Cloud SQL, MongoDB, Redis, BigQuery, SQL Server
  • Streaming: Google Pub/Sub, Kafka
  • Infrastructure: GCP, Infra as Code (terraform, helm, etc.), Docker, containerized dev environments
  • Tools: GitLab, Jira, Confluence, automated CI/CD

Responsibilities

  • Reinvent non-technical department workflows with AI, embedding in Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Settlements, and Operations to build transformative AI frameworks.
  • Build AI frameworks and developer tooling to accelerate software delivery, API design, specification authoring, story writing, and compliance checks.
  • Create AI-native development environments where AI agents operate the full toolchain.
  • Act as an evangelist by demonstrating results, running workshops, pairing with teams, and publishing internal guides to drive adoption.
  • Continuously research emerging AI capabilities and translate findings into production-grade tooling.
  • Bridge business and technology by deeply understanding business domains and building AI tooling that respects complexity.
  • Champion continuous delivery for AI tooling, treating AI workflows as software.
  • Mentor and multiply AI literacy across engineering and non-engineering teams, enabling departments to own and evolve AI-native workflows.
