About The Position
The Senior Accountant will oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, budget support, and compliance activities for a City Government organization while ensuring adherence to governmental accounting standards.
Requirements
- Municipal, county, or state government accounting or finance experience.
- Experience with governmental accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and account reconciliations.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and financial controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- CPA or CPA-track candidates are preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.
- Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
- Collaborate with department leaders to support fiscal management and reporting needs.
- Monitor expenditures and revenues to ensure budgetary compliance.
