The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Grant Accountant to join our Finance team. This role provides financial management and accounting support for grant-funded programs, with a primary focus on Head Start and Early Learning initiatives that serve children and families throughout the Kansas City region. MARC, the association of local governments and metropolitan planning organization for the bistate Kansas City region, promotes and supports cooperation on regional issues, including transportation, the environment, our workforce and economy, aging services, community development, quality early learning, public safety communications and emergency services. These positions work as part of a team of highly competent financial professionals that play an integral role in supporting this important work. This position plays an important role in supporting the financial operations of complex grant-funded programs. While much of the work is performed independently, success depends on strong collaboration with program staff, vendors, and grant partners. No two days are exactly alike. Grant cycles, program needs, reimbursement requests, vendor questions, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements create a dynamic environment that combines routine accounting responsibilities with analytical and problem-solving work. This position reports to the Grant Manager and works closely with Head Start and Early Learning program leadership.
