In Canada, we are represented by 6 locally managed electrical and industrial distributors and have over 110 locations with coverage in 9 provinces. The Account Manager is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to their assigned accounts as well as prospecting and developing new business. They will identify opportunities at each account to maximize sales and profit potential. They will introduce new products and provide technical advice to customers to ensure the best solutions are found for their electrical requirements.

Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years' experience working in the electrical industry
  • 1 - 3 years' working knowledge of electrical products
  • Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience
  • Must be results orientated and possess the ability to work independently and in a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled calls and visits with assigned accounts to maintain relationships and identify sales opportunities.
  • Provide technical assistance and product support to customers as required to ensure successful application and satisfaction.
  • Promote Robertson Electric by distributing the Robertson Line Card and ensuring customers receive current company and manufacturer information.
  • Promote our supplier products and solutions to increase awareness and drive sales within the territory.
  • Attend scheduled sales meetings and provide updates on account activity, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Participate in manufacturer training sessions, including occasional after‑hours programs, to maintain strong product knowledge.
  • Represent Robertson Electric at industry events, trade functions, and professional organizations to strengthen market presence.
  • Communicate accurately and promptly with the Sales Manager, Inside Sales, and Quotations teams to ensure orders are processed correctly and delivered on time.
  • Set and achieve monthly prospecting targets in collaboration with Management to expand the customer base.
  • Work closely with the credit department to support timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Stay current on new products, pricing trends, and market developments to support informed customer discussions.
  • Complete special projects as assigned to support business and departmental objectives.
