About The Position

The System Administrator reports to the MSTP Project Manager and receives work direction derivatives from the Communications and Information Systems Lead. This role provides system administration and engineering support for MSTP, encompassing planning, installation, configuration, operation, security, and maintenance to support daily operations and exercises. The administrator will manage service tickets within the Marine Corps ERIS (Remedy) system, configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise services, and provide Tier 2 support for user accounts, workstations, system access, imaging, and computer assets across various networks. Responsibilities include performing regular updates and functional testing of UC services, reporting system health metrics, conducting pre-event testing, and administering physical and virtual operating systems, directory services, and system security. The role also involves managing Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, installing and maintaining classified infrastructure components, reviewing service-related reports, troubleshooting SAN systems, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements. Maintaining system inventories and documentation is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • IAT Level II: Baseline Certification - IAW DoD 8140.01 required (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP)
  • A minimum of one valid Computing Environment (CE)/Operating System (OS) Certificate (i.e. MS Windows Server 2012 R2 Cert, MS Windows 10 cert, a VMware 6.0 Cert)
  • At least 3 years in IA technology or a related area.
  • Must possess and maintain training and certifications sufficient to be granted privileged access to Marine Corps information technology (IT) and information systems (IS)
  • At least five years of experience in IT, which should include successful experience as an enterprise team member or lead.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, prioritization, interpersonal skills, and able to instinctively adapt, plan, inform and influence.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.
  • All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.
  • A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
  • This position also requires a completed Personnel Security Investigation that will qualify the incumbent to be eligible for access to at least the TS-SCI level, and the individual must be read-in for NATO level access.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred level of certifications and experience include: MCSE: Core Infrastructure, MCSA: Windows Server 2016, Dell/EMC SAN, Windows and Linux virtualization in VMware technologies, ESXi on VMware vSphere v6.7/v6.5/v6.0/v5.5, vCenter, and MS PowerShell automation
  • MEF level operational military experience in communications with prior experience at the field grade level (0602, 0603, 0699) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system administration and engineering support for MSTP, including planning, installation, configuration, operation, security, and maintenance supporting daily operations and exercises.
  • Manage service tickets and work actions within the Marine Corps ERIS (Remedy) system.
  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise services and provide Tier 2 support for MSTP user accounts, workstations, system access, imaging, and computer assets across MCEN, coalition, and joint networks.
  • Perform biweekly updates, checks, and functional testing of UC services and equipment in accordance with ECSM requirements, and report system and server health metrics, including response times, availability, and uptime for servers, systems, and applications.
  • Conduct preevent testing to resolve system issues and optimize system performance.
  • Perform daily administration and monitor physical and virtual operating systems, directory services, file structures, software distribution, client management, and system security.
  • Create, manage, and monitor Microsoft Exchange mailboxes for MSTP users, joint forces, and coalition partners to support daily operations and training events.
  • Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot classified infrastructure components, including server hardware, chassis systems, storage arrays, rackmounted equipment, Windows Server environments, and Red Hat Linux environments.
  • Review and validate service-related reports (e.g., backups, maintenance logs, monitoring alerts) daily to ensure timely identification and remediation of system issues.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain enterprise storage area network (SAN) systems.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, USMC, and MSTP cybersecurity requirements, including patch management, system hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Maintain system inventories, configuration baselines, assets, and lifecycle documentation.
