Requirements

• BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Transports patients and equipment using appropriate standard precautions.
• Cleans and prepares beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs for patient transfer.
• Presents self to staff, patients, families, and visitors in a warm, receptive manner.
• Provides direction and information to patients and family members.
• Identifies and obtains language translation as needed.
• Assists with surgical patient positioning, transfer, cast application, and cast removal under the direction of the RN.
• Retrieves and delivers items to other departments.
• Responds promptly to assignments and requests.
• Supports nursing staff in maintaining high standards of nursing practice by facilitating prompt responses to patient needs.
• Restocks supplies; cleans and defrosts refrigerators; cleans equipment; and maintains an orderly environment.
• Ensures patient transfer and transport equipment is functioning properly.
• Functions as a surgical team member.
• Performs assigned responsibilities competently and meets the population-specific and developmental needs of department members served.
• Adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and service methods to accommodate each member's physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs.
