About The Position

The role of a speech-language pathologist at Playworks is to provide evaluation and treatment/support for children with speech, language, and communication needs onsite within a team-based approach, involving parents, classroom teams, and other specialists. You will be a leader in the classroom growing the minds of our next generation!

Requirements

  • Hold a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
  • Must hold a MN Department of Health License in the area of Speech-Language Pathology
  • Experience working with children ages birth-5
  • Good physical stamina with the ability to lift children as well as bending, kneeling, sitting and child size tables and chairs and on the floor.
  • Valid class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
  • One year agreement.
  • Submit invoices for payment on work that was done.
  • Provide own liability insurance,
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position which is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) and alcohol in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation Regulations as well as the SMSC’s drug/THC and alcohol Policy.
  • Service oriented.

  • Empathetic and sociable.
  • Skilled in identifying problems and brainstorming solutions.
  • Excellent at written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills for documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred. Clinical Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology (CF-SLP) or Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLP-A) will not be considered for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate children for speech, language, and communication concerns seen in the classroom and/or as reported by parents
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in the least restrictive environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and Playworks team to support student communication goals and success in the classroom and across environments
  • Provide parent and teacher education as well as home programming to help children continue progress across different environments
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records for evaluation reports, progress notes, and daily notes.
  • Participate in meetings and provide input on student goals and progress to each child’s service team
  • Stay current with best practices and continue professional development as required per ASHA requirements
