New England Donor Services•New Haven, CT
•$50 - $52•Onsite

About The Position

New England Donor Services is seeking an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to serve as a Donation Coordinator. The coordinator responds on-site to organ donor referrals and provides clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery. The role combines clinical and interpersonal skills to educate hospital staff about donation, work with donor families to obtain consent, and coordinate with surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success requires strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to remain flexible, calm, and effective in highly charged, clinically complex situations. The position begins with a company-wide, one-week onsite orientation in Waltham, Massachusetts, followed by specialized organ donation training. The Donation Academy includes three days per week in the Waltham office for the first three weeks, generally Tuesday through Thursday on a day shift, with additional office-based training throughout orientation. After classroom training, new hires participate in 16-hour day on-call shifts. Once independent, coordinators work 16-hour on-call day shifts from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, averaging three shifts per week on a four-week schedule, plus trainings and meetings. Significant travel in a personal vehicle throughout New England is required; mileage and other reimbursements are available. The role requires travel to NEDS headquarters in Waltham and hospitals throughout New England. Candidates must maintain an eligible-driver status, including being at least 21 years old, having an acceptable motor vehicle record, and meeting NEDS's minimum personal auto insurance requirements. Annual influenza vaccination is required for employees working in clinical or healthcare environments outside NEDS facilities. The next Donation Academy cohort is scheduled to start January 4, 2027.
