About The Position

This is a travel nursing position for a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a hospital in Pennington, New Jersey. The assignment is temporary, lasting 8 weeks, with a start date of 09/29/2026. The role involves providing direct nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU setting, which includes 12 intensive care bassinets and 15 Level II bassinets. The nurse will work the night shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week. The estimated weekly pay ranges from $2,065 to $2,123. The hospital utilizes the Cerner EMR system.

Requirements

  • Active NJ or compact nursing license required at submission
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a Level III NICU setting and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU, including monitoring vitals, respiratory support, IV therapy, and medication administration per physician orders.
  • Assist with neonatal procedures and specialized care, including coordination of equipment and line management as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the neonatal team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the Cerner EMR; ensure timely handoffs during shift changes.
  • Monitor for early signs of distress, support ventilated or high-risk neonates, and respond to neonatal emergencies following established protocols.
  • Support family-centered care by communicating with families, providing education, and offering emotional support as appropriate.
  • Adhere to infection control practices, safety protocols, and unit policies; contribute to a positive, child-friendly NICU environment.
