About The Position
Following the guidelines of the Illinois Nursing Act, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for office patients. As a licensed professional, the nurse assumes responsibility for the care of individuals and groups through a collegial relationship with a physician or clinician. The position is scheduled for 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday during the day.
Requirements
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment at CGH.
- Knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of patients served in the physician office, including knowledge of growth and development and the ability to assess and interpret patient-status data to identify needs and provide appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric patients.
Nice To Haves
- Previous medical office experience.
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
- Prior experience drawing blood.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient health data for the physician and enter it into the EMR.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses.
- Identify expected outcomes individualized to each patient.
- Develop a plan of care that identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Implement the interventions identified in the plan of care.
- Evaluate patient progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Assign ICD-10 codes on charge sheets for office billing and monitor CPT coding to ensure proper documentation.
- When in the exam room, chart on behalf of the provider; include the nurse’s name, title, date, and time in the note, which must then be signed by the provider.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
