About The Position

Within nursing services, the Registered Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing patient-centered care to an assigned group of patients. The RN plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care using a holistic view that may include the patient’s physical, developmental, emotional, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and functional status. The RN collects information in an orderly manner to develop a comprehensive standard of care, meet identified patient-care outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing plan of care. Nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures are followed when administering care. Initial assessments establish a baseline for future comparisons and individualized care; ongoing assessment and reassessment address changing patient needs. The RN ensures accurate documentation and adequate supplies, and is knowledgeable in equipment operation. The RN also acts as an educator to peers, patients, and families. Performance supports service excellence and a healing environment. Other duties may be assigned. The position requires adherence to annual Joint Commission education, in-service, health, orientation, TB/PPD surveillance, and professional licensing or certification requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, and remain detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 40 pounds and carry and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, sit, stand, and walk for long periods, and frequently assist with lifting patients and heavy equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care to an assigned group of patients.

  • Collect assessment information and develop a comprehensive standard of care to meet patient-care outcomes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing plans of care and provide initial, ongoing, and reassessment as patient needs change.
  • Follow established nursing objectives, standards, policies, and procedures when administering care.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and adequate supplies, and operate equipment knowledgeably.
  • Educate peers, patients, and patients’ families.
  • Support service excellence and a healing environment.
  • Complete annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service, health requirements, and new employee orientation; maintain TB/PPD surveillance and required professional licenses and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
