About The Position

Banner Health’s New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time, paid Registered Nurse position designed to help new graduates transition into competent professional nurses. The program has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program. New graduates receive clinical mentoring from unit staff and educators, along with development opportunities and support for long-term career goals. Participants are expected to remain on their assigned NNE unit for at least 12 months and live within a reasonable commuting distance of their facility. This role is based in the 60-bed General Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a cardiac progressive care unit for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment. Patients may be recovering from surgery, managing stable cardiac conditions or respiratory illnesses requiring non-invasive ventilation, or transitioning from the ICU while still needing significant medical oversight. The unit provides specialized nursing care, advanced monitoring, and care for patients who may have complex medication regimens. The stated patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4. The RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents patient care in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The role uses nursing judgment and specialized skills to provide care appropriate to patients’ physical and developmental needs, and is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the RN or others under their direction. The NNE program includes precepted clinical experiences, training at the Banner Simulation Center, competency and skills assessments, orientation to the Cerner electronic medical record, a hands-on patient care skills lab, e-learning modules, and resources for professional and personal development. Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations. The listed shift for this position is day shift.
