About The Position
Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in its outpatient infusion center in Suffolk, Virginia. The center primarily serves adult patients, with occasional pediatric patients, and treats more than 30 patients per day. Services include chemotherapy and biotherapy, immunotherapy, subcutaneous injections, central-line care and laboratory services, blood products, and hydration therapies. The unit is a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment. The Infusion Nurse provides competent nursing care using the nursing process and applies the standards of nursing practice and professional performance. This includes assessment, diagnosis, identifying outcomes, planning, implementation, care coordination, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation, as well as professional responsibilities such as ethical and culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN uses clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required for the clinical area. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week on an eight-hour day shift. The schedule includes one weekend every eight weeks and one holiday per year. The base pay range is $41.93 to $61.01 per hour; additional compensation may be available for differentials, on-call work, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonuses. Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
Requirements
- One of the following: RN associate’s degree, RN bachelor’s degree, RN diploma, or RN master’s degree.
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State nursing license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
- Chemo/Bio certification within six months of hire; the course is online through ONS and paid for by the department.
Nice To Haves
- At least three years of clinical floor nursing experience on a medical oncology floor or experience in an infusion setting is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide competent, patient-centered nursing care in the outpatient infusion center using the nursing process.
- Perform nursing assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation.
- Provide care related to chemotherapy and biotherapy, immunotherapy, subcutaneous injections, central-line care and laboratory services, blood products, and hydration therapies.
- Meet the clinical and professional nursing standards required for the infusion center.
- Work the full-time day schedule, including one weekend every eight weeks and one holiday per year.
