About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or higher required.
• Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon hire.
• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certification preferred; required within six months of hire.
• National Specialty Certification (i.e. OCN,TCTCN).
• Minimum of 5 years acute RN experience including 3 years experience in complex cellular therapy/hematology-oncology patient population required.
• Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.
• Has maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year.
• Have an overall performance evaluation of “Strongly Meets” or higher.
• Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable standards of practice.
• Demonstrate commitment to providing excellent customer service and the ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assume the responsibility and accountability for the supervision and application of the nursing process throughout the delivery of patient care.
• Serve as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high standard of knowledge and expertise in a specialty as well as general nursing.
• Consistently demonstrate excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.
• Manage complex, unpredictable patient care situations and act as a nursing leader.
• Serve as a resource to the nursing staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to promote the advancement of nursing.
• Oversee projects, quality improvement work, or unit-based initiatives and demonstrate the ability to move work forward.
• Apply clinical knowledge regarding standard of care to consolidate interventions for time and cost savings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making, delegations of tasks, documentation and oversee care for the delivery team.
• Demonstrate leadership through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
• Lead or support timely discharges, patient throughput, admissions, transfers, and overall hospital flow.
• Precept, coach, mentor, and develop staff.
