About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and throughout the continuum of care, meeting the needs of patients and families. Working within Mayo Clinic's Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through precepting, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The role includes delegating patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. The RN uses strong communication, mentoring, and teaching skills, and may participate in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to use a personal vehicle as part of their role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Requirements
- Graduate of a nursing program.
- Current RN license in accordance with applicable state requirements.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS competency through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; BLS may not be required for certain off-campus positions, as determined by the work area.
- Meet additional state licensure and/or specialty certification or training requirements as required by the work area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, potentially including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the work setting.
- Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong critical-thinking skills.
- For entry-level associate degree RNs starting on or after April 1, 2020, provide documented evidence of completing a baccalaureate nursing degree within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
- For entry-level associate degree RNs starting before April 1, 2020, provide documented evidence of baccalaureate nursing degree completion as stipulated by the degree requirement program in effect at the time of hire.
- For TN sponsorship, obtain state licensure and complete VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Nice To Haves
- One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting, or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
- Prior experience with electronic medical record systems.
